Exploring Archaeology
Overview of Learning Experience
We recreate an archaelogical dig, giving children the opportunity to experience the excitement of discovery and understand the how archaeologists piece together evidence to construct an understanding of the past.
Solving a mystery of the past
For this activitiy, students participate in a mock archaeological dig, removing layers to reveal different artifacts. They will record their finds in a professional way and piece together evidence to reconstruct a picture of a past event. This is a hands-on problem solving activity which can be structured to suit different themed units and learning objectives.
Dinosaurs and fossils
Kids can dig deep into the distant past to uncover dinosaur "fossils" and even real skeletons. This activity is a hands-on activity in which children dig through layers to find different skeletons. They can then problem solve to reconstruct the skeletons and identify the types of dinosaur found and catagorise them according to a timeline.
