Adventurous Hiking.

We do not guide treks; we create journeys of discovery. This sounds pretentious, but it is true! With more than 15 years practice guiding students through some extremely challenging situations, we have learned how to make sure these treks are memorable and meaningful. This is not just trekking, it is an opportunity for students to push their physical limits, test their emotional resilience, develop genuine team-working skills, and discover a side of themselves they never knew.

Safety

All our guides have Advanced Wilderness First Aid Training. We also run risk awareness sessions for students before each trek.

Our Program:

We run a three stage program:

Pre-trek Preparation: Before we leave, we prepare students psychologically for the experience. Not only do we develop awareness of potential risks they will experience, we also establish the level of the challenge that they will face and the key characteristics they will need to overcome that challenge.

Focused Trekking: During the trek, we guide students towards a positive growth mindset as they face the challenge of the trek. Students are constantly supported to overcome the emotional and physical difficulties they will face. At all times we stress the importance of working as a team and using the mind to skillfully navigate to success.

Structured reflection: After the trek, we guide reflection to distill what has been learned. This is an extremely important and powerful part of our treks and shapes how students will remember their experience and, more importantly, how they will be mentally prepared for challenges they face in the future.

Early Years- Lower Primary

When students start facing challenge and adventure at a young age, overcoming difficulty becomes part of who they are. Our treks for younger students are levelled to be a challenge for smaller bodies with shorter legs but we also adapt our  language and approach. We have worked with students from Year 1 and up, but could easily adapt a program for nursery and kindergarten children.

Upper Primary - Middle school

Upper primary students and middle-school students are physically capable of a lot but are still in the midst of a critical stage of social and emotional growth. This is the time to form bonds with peers and to define identity and attitudes. Our treks for these ages are focused on positive relationships and positive self-perception.

High School -

Highschool students are on the cusp of adult life. They face the pressure of uncertain futures and responsible independence. Our high-school treks consolidate the social and emotional changes students have been through. We also introduce higher levels of independence and reliance practical skills. We nurture deep collaboration and help all students to understand how they work best in a team.
